I was invited to this establishment as part of a celebration for Christmas with a few other Melbourne based writers at
The Bottom End on Little Collins Street. The ambience is dark yet inviting with that traditional European feel.
Watch out, the drinks are designed to give you a hangover. So if you want a crazy night out, come to this establishment. With the hangover feeling, no matter how many drinks you have been drinking that very same night, all is fine the next day. Expect efficient bar service.
The food is also something. The bistro area attracts the crowds, and looking at the sheer size of the burgers, this makes complete sense. They are massive, so chances are they would be quite filling.
In relation to the function I attended, the drinks were abundant, yet it would have been great if more food was served and maybe a little less alcohol. There were way too many olives and not enough hot chips. The hot chips came out with a thousand island like sauce, and were crispy hot, and remind you of the McCain hot chips you pop into the oven at home.
The problem was the chips were way too delicious, to the point that I continued to salivate for more hot chips, and then as a result more chips were purchased at McDonald's and Hungry Jack's afterwards to satisfy this craving and to curb the slight hangover a little. Sadly, the chips at McDonald's just wasn't enough, so this was why chips were purchased from two different fast food outlets.
More food and less drink and this experience would have been really perfect.
