Boreen Point is a small and delightful (urban) holiday spot in the Sunshine Coast Region, on the edge of one part of Lake Cootharaba. Also a popular retirement location for for those seeking to 'head away from the city' looking for the 'laid back' lifestyle, these sorts of places bring.

Great spot for a day's drive heading north from Brisbane to escape the city for that 'little bit of country' feel.

Camping at Boreen Point is also popular or you could stay in or around the region in holiday cottages, guest houses or similar. The camping area is on the shores of the lake and you can hire boats.

Popular during summer and school holidays, you can bring your own canoes, kayaks and windsurfers and enjoy the expanse of Lake Cootharaba and all that it offers. Boreen Point is also home to the Lake Cootharaba Sailing club and there are regattas and sailing championships running each year.

A 'must visit' to the glorious old Apollonian Hotel for a beer, wine or lunch affair is highly recommended. In particular, the 'Sunday Spit Roast' memorable moment. (bookings recommended)

A bit about the demographics:
With an approximate population of 198,832 in and around the region, within a 100km radius, just like any of the Sunshine Coast hotspot regions, the people and the place are a melting pot of culture. Boreen point itself has a population of approximately 270 people and is one of the smaller towns in Australia.

Nearby places
Noosa, is just a 30 minute drive away, so if staying around the region for a while, you could hit the surf beaches, cafes and the sophisticated shops and restaurants. "A small city in one long street', pretty much sums up Hasting Street, in Noosa. Visit the Noosa Guide to find out more.

Pomona is just a 15-minute drive away. Again this place is a relaxed small country town with quite a few easy walks available around the parks in the region. Pomona is also home to the Majestic Cinema, (built 1921), the oldest continuously running silent movie cinema in the world.
