We arrived at 1.30 for a lunch booking and the Boat Shed was almost full. There was a great buzz and the views across the Maroochy River were delightful.

Despite the number of people lunching, our waitress was quick to arrive with water and an ice bucket for our champagne. The lunch menu was a fine example of modern Australian dining and I was quite excited by a number of the dishes. The waitress came around with a specials board which made it even harder to choose.

Our local friend said the dish she often has for entrée is the battered chilli and coconut prawns with banana and rum sauce. Since this was an indulgent weekend I decided to give those a go. Another of our party chose the Hervey Bay scallops. Our vegetarian friend ordered the roasted zucchini flowers stuffed with roast vegetables, tomato and fetta. As she was not having entrée she also selected a rocket, pear and parmesan salad.

When our meals arrived, they were well presented. My five prawns were sitting on top of the grilled banana and drizzled with rum sauce. I was disappointed with the taste as there was not even a hint of either chilli or coconut. These elements would have given the dish a lift that it needed. Everyone else was happy with their dish.

Two of the group had chosen pork belly for main while I decided on the duck breast. Our meals were served about half an hour after finishing entrée. My duck breast was well cooked and seasoned. The vanilla mash was good with a subtle vanilla taste. The pea and mint ragout didn't have much of a mint flavour so was really peas only. The pork belly did have a bit too much fat for the liking of my friends. When a restaurant is charging these prices I expect everything to be of a high standard. While our food was OK most of it lacked seasoning and attention to detail was not quite there.

The venue is gorgeous and the staff had no problem with us staying on into the evening. We had moved from the restaurant into the lounge type area right on the water. Watching the sunset was beautiful and this is a great location to spend a lazy afternoon.
