From the 12th to the 14th of March, the
Blue Mountains will be bouncing to the sounds of blues, roots and folk, as
Katoomba plays host to the 15th annual
Blue Mountains Music Festival.
Making up the busy and diverse
program will be no less than 46 acts. While the local charge will be led by the well-known
James Valentine Quartet, Australian-African duo
One Africa, musical storyteller
Pat Drummond and contemporary jazz combo the
Tracey Campbell Trio, there will also be a collection of impressive imports to enjoy. These include legendary American performer
Josh White Jr., six-time Grammy-nominated multi-instrumentalist
John McCutcheon, acclaimed Irish singer
Brian Kennedy and traditionalist Québecan three-piece
Genticorum.
The
site has been cleverly planned, so that it takes no more than a minute to hop between any of the ten stages, and no more than five to walk to any of the cafes and restaurants.
Just as there's a variety of artists to enjoy, so there's a variety of
tickets. If you're looking to make a long weekend of it, three-day passes sell for $175. Alternatively, you can just come along on Friday night ($65) or Saturday night ($70), or make a full day of it on Saturday or Sunday ($95).
