There are 3 award winning Blue Mountains Visitor Information Centres that cater to the Blue Mountains Area. The is the most inland of these and is a must-visit spot for anyone visiting the National Park for the first time. But rest assured there is still a lot of value in popping into the centre, regardless of whether you are new to the area or not.

The centre is located down Govett's Leap Road in Blackheath, a short distance before the Govett's Leap Lookout.

This is the best place to go to find out what is happening currently in the Blue Mountains area. The beauty of this place is that it provides up-to-date information, beyond that which you can normally find online. It is here where you will find flyers for Blue Mountains events not listed on the internet, and be able to access the local knowledge of the staff in person. There is also a gallery that showcases art inspired by the area.

One of the most practical aspects of the service delivered revolves around the centre's participation in the 'Think Before You Trek' program . 'Think Before You Trek' is a bush-safety initiative that involves collaboration between the NSW Police Force and the National Parks and Wildlife Service. It focuses on encouraging people to be well prepared before venturing into the bush.

What this means in practice is that, in addition to receiving advice on the area, you can lodge Bushwalking & Activity Trip Intention Forms here. These forms ensure that the relevant authorities are aware of your proposed itinerary in the National Park and can assist more effectively if you happen to get into trouble.

They also provide personal locator beacons for anyone planning a bush walk. These are free on loan from the centre and further ensure your safety during your bush explorations.

If you are looking for more detailed books and guides about the area these can be purchased here and they sell souvenirs too.

There is adequate parking space provided in front of the building, and there is wheelchair-access with a ramp from the carpark. The toilets - and the centre in general - are fully wheelchair accessible.
