For those who want to escape the daily grind of the city a day trip to the
Blue Mountains offers a great excuse to head out of Sydney. With numerous hikes such as the popular Katoomba Falls Circuit, this will take you about two hours and presents spectacular views of the rainforest.
Cliff face taken by the Furber Steps
If you hike along the Furber Steps and connecting tracks, take note of the surrounding views as this, in my opinion, are some of the best views of the Katoomba Falls. But be warned these steps are not for the faint of heart and its best to be fit before attempting this
'stairway to heaven'.
Whilst this hike is one of the shorter trails available, it's best to make the most of it and have picnic by one of the waterfalls. Be aware that some of the signage is a bit obscure so it's best to be watchful. This comment might seem strange but when I did this hike my group managed to walk past a landslide warning sign hidden by foliage. Unfortunately for us we decided to persevere and it was not until we hiked through some seriously wet tracks that we decided to turn and head back. Hopefully this has been fixed.
Perfect picnic spot by waterfall
This is a perfect daytrip and if you're stupid like we were a perfect adventure. Make sure to pack a camera and lunch and take advantage of the beauty the Blue Mountains has on offer.
