'One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish…' You'll find all kinds of fish at Blue Fish restaurant, Darling Harbour.

With the most beautiful location on the Harbourside Shopping side of Darling Harbour, dining indoors or al fresco, it's the perfect vantage point to soak in the best views of Sydney, along with a crisp cold Chardonnay, whilst watching the world saunter by.
Gorgeous views of Darling Harbour

Whether you like your seafood fresh (succulent king prawns or salmon sashimi) or cooked (Fisherman's Basket or crispy salt and pepper style whole fried snapper) you will walk away from Blue Fish with a big smile on your face.

On the weekend, I was fortunate enough to enjoy lunch there, and I will definitely be back. It was quite busy when we arrived at 1 pm, but we were seated immediately – which is a big plus for booking ahead – and the staff were more than attentive. The menu is vast and varied, and there are wine recommendations with each dish. This is a nice touch for those clueless about food and wine pairing.

You know the food is fresh, as they receive two daily deliveries from the Sydney Fish Markets. I do love fresh prawns, and I really think you can't go wrong with the Bucket O' Prawns with beer for $25. Plenty of prawns to share and plenty of room left for the other tasty delights on the menu.
The fresh, juicy prawns are fantastic

No seafood restaurant worth its sea salt would be without a giant seafood platter. Now, I've had seafood platters plenty of times before, and many of them have left me less than impressed. I believe the best platters are a balance of fresh crispy fried offerings and lots of fresh stuff. The Blue Fish Giant Family Seafood Platter at $165 is big enough and beautifully balanced enough for 3 people to feel stuffed if they get through it.

Families are well catered for and the atmosphere is casual and relaxed – they even do breakfast.

Admittedly, there are many fine seafood dining venues to choose from at Darling Harbour, and the competition for bums on seats is rife. Blue Fish is a big contender. Perhaps price-wise, it's a little on the high side, but that's not a deterrent, with outstanding food and wine and unbeatable atmosphere.
