Event: 21/10/2011 - 23/10/2011
Taking place over three days from 21st October, the Bloomsbury Festival offers up a weekend filled with more than 150 free events.

Russell Square Gardens in Bloomsbury

Bloomsbury is a wonderful part of the capital to explore at any time of the year, and with the festival coming up, you now have the perfect reason to visit.

There's lots going on at the festival - far too much to list here - but I'll pick out a couple of events that might be of interest.

It all kicks off in style on the Friday at 6.30pm in Russell Square with a pretty lantern parade, with lots of illuminated installations providing a gorgeous backdrop. There'll be live music and other entertainment to enjoy too, so try to get along if you can.

The Squares of Bloomsbury is a pleasant 90-minute guided stroll through the area's squares and gardens. Learn about the various statues you come across, the vegetation and garden layouts, and much more besides.

Kids will love the Children's Activities Tent in Russell Square, providing lots of entertainment for the littl'uns on Saturday and Sunday.

The Lambs Conduit Street Sunday Lunch is bound to be a big hit with festival goers - from 1pm to 7pm the entire street will be given over to food from local restaurants and shops, and there'll be plenty of live music and entertainment too. Spanning the entire length of the street will be one long communal table, providing everyone with a place to sit and enjoy lunch.

Those of you who love a singalong can have one on the Sunday by going along to the Foundling Choir's event. Songs are set to include lots of popular tunes, so there should be something for everyone. It takes place at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). Ask for directions at SOAS's reception.

Other events that might be of interest include Art and Society in Bloomsbury, Cream Tea and Conversation, Dinos, Dodos and Dugongs: Family Activities, Feisty Women of Bloomsbury, Imaginary Menagerie, Pop-Up Art Strange Creatures and Tour of the Tombs.
