The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea isn't as straight laced as you might have thought. And they have some interesting ideas for ways to get people to visit them and appreciate some of their charms. One of them is their Bike Minded initiative – more specifically the Blue Plaque Bike Tour app they've created.

This nifty little guide doesn't just offer you a fun route blue plaque hopping around the borough, it also includes little audio clips you can play when you're on the 'spots,' which tell you all about the plaques and the Kensington and Chelsea of their time. Including cycling round Oscar Wilde's old hangouts and one of Mark Twain's fave. old haunts.

They've also created a children's version for families, and if you don't have a smart phone you can print out the guide and read it out aloud. You can access all of them here.
