Twenty20 cricket returns to Australia this summer with the new Big Bash League kicking off season one this Friday, December 16th 2011, at the Sydney Cricket Ground, where the Sydney Sixers take on the Brisbane Heat.
The new competition is franchise-based and has seen fresh team kits for each team, furthering themselves away from their traditional colours.
Tickets for the entire competition are at an amazing flat rate, with adult tickets at $20, student/concession at $12 and children at an amazing $5.
Alternatively, if you want to bring the whole family down, group tickets are on sales at $42.50 (two adults, two children).
The competition is also bringing a range of worldwide cricketing superstars to the country, with the likes of Chris Gayle, Brendon McCullum, Shahid Afridi, Kieron Pollard and Herschelle Gibbs making an appearance.
League games are scheduled to finish on Thursday, January 19th 2012, with the top four ranked teams qualifying for the finals.
The grand final will take place on Saturday, January 28th.
Eight teams will be participating in the league, with Adelaide (Strikers), Perth (Scorches), Hobart (Hurricanes) and Brisbane all having one team, whilst Sydney (Thunder, Sixers) and Melbourne (Renegades, Stars) both have two teams.
