Event: 16/10/2009
Big Apple Comic Con is one of the oldest and longest running Comic Conventions in the world. Started in 1996 by Michael Carbonaro, its also the biggest comic book, science fiction, fantasy, horror, and pop culture convention and it's coming your way this October.

Several retailers sell and buy thousands of comic books at Comic Con and the entire place turns into madhouse as collectors search their way through Himalayas of comic books to find one precious comic book.

Apart from searching for books you can participate in Big Apple Comic Con Costume Party by dressing up as your favorite character with the best costume bringing home a cool $1000. If you think you can rock then participate in Rock Band and Guitar Hero Extravaganza. Winners will win $1000 and their photos will be published in Wizard Magazine.

Several special guests and celebrities are going to make appearances including Kristanna Loken and Linda Hamilton from Terminator Series, William Shatner, Bret Spiner,Kate Mulgrew from Star Trek. Other special guests to appear are Ric Flair, Joe Kubert, Erick Avari, Christian Serratos, Catherine Bach and many more.

This year with collaboration of Madame Tussauds Museum of New York a figure of Steven Spielberg will be on display at the convention on the 17th October. Just why that's a big attraction I've not idea -- but I guess you could have your photo taken with the fake Steven to impress your friends.

Even if you're not into graphic novels, it's fun to head along and experience a vibrant and interesting subculture. You may even get the bug.
