A holiday tradition has returned for another fun-filled romp in their intimate, big top. Erected on the plaza at Lincoln Center, the blue, red, and yellow tent of the
Big Apple Circus hosts just as colorful performers in their thirty-third season.
This year's show is titled Dance On!—and the circus promises to have you dancing in your seats. Feats of daring agility, flexibility, balance, and strength are interrupted by two charming, comical clowns Rob Torres and the circus' signature face, Grandma.
The Big Apple Circus recruits the best acts from around the globe. This year features Ethiopian percussionist-juggler Girma Tshehai, African acrobatic from impossible heights, a group of young female contortionists from Mongolia, the hand-balancing talents of Bulgarian Andrey Mantchev, and amazing antics with lassos and monocycles by the Chinese Hebei Wuqiao Acrobatic Troupe.
Miniature horses, dogs, and even goats have their moment in the spotlight. This small, artistic circus dedicates itself to human treatment of its animal performers and prides itself on the family atmosphere of the production. But best of all, the excitement and artistry please both young and old, making this a show for the whole family.
