The Biennale of Sydney is an international festival of contemporary art, held every two years in Sydney. This year, the 17th Biennale which is Australia's largest art festival will showcase 450 works from artists in 36 countries.

The 12 week festival is themed The Beauty of Distance and is held across 7 different venues. The Museum of Contemporary Art at the Rocks and Cockatoo Island are 2 of the major venues where the art work is being exhibited. There is a free ferry service to Cockatoo Island from Circular Quay for the event. There are also displays at Pier 2/3 Walsh Bay, the Opera House, Royal Botanic Gardens, Art Gallery of New South Wales and Artspace, Woolloomooloo

Apart for exhibiting artwork, the event showcases a programme of special events, public tours, artist talks, film screenings and international guest lectures. The website has a list of artists whose work is being showcased and pictures of the art exhibited this year is available here.
