If you ever want a nice place to just hang out with some friends, and whip up a quick easy barbie and just relax, then this is the place for you. Bicentennial Park is situated in Homebush, filled with green grass, abundant designated barbeque areas, seats and playgrounds for the children. Bicentennial Park is the perfect family and friends destination. The park is well kempt, the trees and grass trimmed, and has a friendly and light family atmosphere.
Despite how crowded the park may seem, there is plenty of space for everyone. Bicentennial Park is the perfect picnic place, with plenty of grass area for rugs to be laid under the shade or in the warm sun. There is ample space for children to play, and the parents can sit back and relax whilst keeping an eye on them. Not only is there lots of grassy areas to play in but there are also playgrounds water features that children love to spend time in.
The park has been designed for the very purpose of catering for families on picnics. From very simple barbeques that turn on at the press of a button, to toilets and bins every hundred metres or so. Once the food has been eaten, many families decide to move closer to the playgrounds for the children, or for the people more up for some activities tackle the bicycle trail. This trail runs for about 35 kilometres, some less taken than others. However, it caters for all levels of fitness. There are bicycle hires that cost depending on the type of bike you hire and the length of time you hire them for. If you have your own bike and form of transport for them then by all means bring them.
These bicycle tracks aren't reserved for just people on bikes; if you are up for a stroll, you will encounter some wondrous sites you never thought would exist in suburban Sydney. There are swamps and marshlands filled with the chatter of ducks and if you keep walking you will reach a clearing on the mangroves and trees, which will keep you mesmerised. With the skyline behind some outlying trees as you sit on a bench, with the soft gossip of the wild life in the distance. It is truly a place for relaxation.
Some things to take note are that parking is sometimes difficult to find, however, with patience there will be a spot or they will open up a new parking area. Also, the designated barbeque do get crowded at lunch time, so come prepared.
