Best Things to do in Summer

I'm pretty sure that most of us will want to migrate away from this heat and runaway to exotic spots like Bali or cold, cold places the other side of the world, where you can continue to don on your fabulous faux-fur coats and leather jackets, and look just as fabulous.

But for those of us who (a) don't have enough time, (b) don't have enough money or (c) just can't be bothered planning, I want to know what will you doing this summer and where can you be found most ?

As for moi, here are the places that I will be procrastinating at since all my pals have decided that they are rich enough to migrate to the other side of the world and get away from this heat, who knows, I might decide one of these places is where I'll have my next date:

The Local Beaches

Since I live in the West of Sydney, local to my area doesn't bring many beaches to mind, but anything that is within 2 hours of public transport is fine by me. So, this summer, I will frequent places such as Bondi Beach, Cronulla Beach, Manly Beach and Brighton Beach.

Although Bondi Beach is a well-known tourist spot (also shark spot), it's a great place you can go to feel anonymous amongst strangers from all sorts of places and just be your most fabulous self baking in the sun (font forget the SPF), swimming in the water, jumping in those waves, and when you're tired of jumping and swimming around and enjoying what mother nature has to offer (just off the top of my head: free exfoliant = sand, free tan = the sun, free disinfectant = the salt water ) then you've always got Bondi Westfield, which is only a bus ride away really.

There you can enjoy the air conditioned stores, food, cafes, the movies ... it just depends on how much you're willing to spend.

I'll also switch from time to time to Cronulla Beach or Manly Beach when I feel like a change of scenery this summer. While Cronulla doesn't have quite as much to offer as Bondi in terms of retail therapy, it really does feel like a whole new world in terms of nature and vintage modes, which I feel is perfect for me.

Cronulla Beach is quite small but that really doesn't stop me from being anonymous, which is great when all I want to do is goof around and not care what I look like, especially in Summer.
So the beaches are really awesome local spots that you can enjoy for free, which have multiple benefits and can help you shed that winter weight at the same time.

Picnics at the Local Parks

Because it is summer and finding a proper park for a picnic is extremely difficult, I will actually just stick to parks with a pond or playing equipments. Why? Well, there are two benefits to that.

Firstly, ponds have water which emits a nice cool breeze whenever there is a gust of wind (and not just dirt and heat), and also there are the ducks.

My love for feeding the ducks started when I began watching Gossip Girl and since then I have found that not only is it an awesome way to recycle old bread, but it is also really therapeutic to watch them eat or watch the bread (along with all your problems, metaphorically) sink to the bottom of the pond.

Secondly, why go to the gym and pay to exercise when it is available for free by your local council; the flying fox, the swings and the monkey bars all have really cardio and ab building purposes.

So, I'll be going to that park to feed my face first, then work it off. Two birds with one stone. Perfect.

Anywhere with Animals - Including Home

I love animals, so apart from these places, I want to surround myself with creatures who does not complain or criticise and expect perfection from me.

I have three cats at home; actually 2 cats and 1 kitten. They are actually outdoor cats, but they never seem to leave home, especially the boy kitten, he is left to his own devices all day long but all he actually does is eat and sleep and is very attached to his aunty. They are a great source of comfort to me, so I love being around them.

Another place is the ducks that I feed at the local parks or try and catch glimpses of dolphins on ferry trip to Luna Park.

Cafes

I am more of a sweet tooth in Summer than any other season, so I like to surround myself with sweets and cold drinks, and sweet, cold drinks, even better, with whipped cream.

So I like to situate myself at cafes where I can watch people at the same time. A place that I really want to try this summer is My Sweet Memory at Strathfield. The place always seems to be so busy and it does discourage me a little but I still want to try, especially because its also a stationery shop.

So, tell me, where will you guys frequent this summer?
