So just exactly where should you be taking your date out for lunch or dinner in Melbourne? Some of my friends have been out on dates at classy restaurants in Melbourne, yet the date did not last, while there are other restaurants and activities that just have that simple spark. I am not always referring to anything upmarket here, just a combination of it all. There are certain restaurants in Melbourne that I enjoy eating out at, and other restaurants I would only go out with friends at and I would probably cringe if my date ever suggested such places to eat out.

The following places are the best places in Melbourne to go out for lunch or dinner if you are on a date with someone.

You can't go too wrong with any of the restaurants along the Yarra, any of the restaurants along the Crown Casino promenade would be a great start. Think Bistro Guillaume (where I was taken out for a first date before I even moved to Melbourne) for romantic French food, or any of the restaurants along Lygon Street. A restaurant where I went with a close friend of mine in December, called Copperwood Bar and Restaurant , that I would also recommend as a great restaurant to take your date to, especially due to the great ambience at this establishment.

It is great to also include the dinner with some simple activity afterwards, such as a walk and an ice cream along the Yarra, or if you are hanging out at Lygon Street, then head to Casa Del Gelato for an after dinner ice cream and enjoy it at the little park nearby. If you are taking your date out for lunch, then why not spend the afternoon together lying in the grass and walking around the Royal Botanical Gardens . I just love it there.

For a cocktail and some snacks, then you can't go past The Everleigh in Fitzroy. Be careful though, the food and drinks here get quite addictive.

If you and your date are in a bit in the mood for Asian, then Coda on Flinders Lane is your go to destination. Just the diverse menu is a hit.

Last but not least, do you fancy a cocktail from the 55th floor of the Rialto? Yes please: The Lui Bar will delight, and you seem so far away from it all, no different to the feeling when you fly business class with Qantas - not bragging here, it is the truth. Feel spoilt and enjoy the very best of Melbourne.
