Grabbing a bargain after Christmas has become an Australian shopping tradition.
Whether you are after towels and sheets, a new outfit & handbag or a plasma TV and fridge, there are always lots of great bargains for those who are fast enough, and brave enough, to fight the other bargain hunters.
Pitt Street Mall has the big name department stores covered all in one spot, and opens their doors a day earlier than the suburban shopping centres, but also attracts the biggest crowds.
The morning news shows all send a camera crew there to cover the chaos, and the bigger stores bring in celebrities to garner as much attention as possible.
Do you love the sales or do you think the stores are just getting us to buy all the stuff they couldn't sell before Christmas?
Is the city the best place to go though for a bargains? Are you better off perhaps choosing a
Westfields or
Centro centre closer to home, in the hope that you won't have to wrestle with quite as many people, or do you need to fully commit and go to town? Is Bondi Junction the place to be seen as well as the place to save?
The newspapers all feature full page ads in the days before, showing some of the best specials but until you are there yourself you never really know what's on offer, especially for fashion items.
Have you had good luck in the past with a great bargain? Where would you say is the best area to head to or store that offers the best post-Christmas buys?
