Tostada El Grande @ La Quinta
Who doesn't enjoy digging into a feast of Mexican goodness, whether it be cheesy enchiladas, sizzling fajitas, crispy tacos or just a big bowl of corn chips and creamy guacamole? Luckily for all who do, there are plenty of great places around Brisbane to indulge in all of the above. More seem to crop up weekly and though many have proven to be glorified fast-food joints there are still lots of fantastic restaurants where one can get authentic Mexican meals. Some of my favourites are:
La Quinta
It is impossible to leave
La Quinta Mexican Cafe and Bar in Bulimba feeling unsatisfied. Their meals are as large as they are tasty and I heartily recommend skipping the entree and going straight to mains. Though usually overflowing with diners, the lively restaurant still manages to serve up their meals in record time with no shortcuts on quality. They are a little pricey, at $20-$30 a main, but make up for it with great food, good service and cheap Margaritas.

El Torito
I don't think you will find more authentic Mexican food anywhere in Brisbane than at
El Torito Restaurant in West End. Unlike the Tex-Mex fare one often finds at 'Mexican' restaurants, El Toritos food is not drowning in cheese and sour cream but instead is full of flavours and spices and tastes deliciously fresh. The festive looking restaurant is decked in bright colours and various Mexican icons and never lacking for diners. It's rather small so I would suggest booking ahead for a busy night.
Pepe's
The food at
Pepe's Mexican Newmarket may be more Old El Paso than authentic Mexican but if you are a fan of Tex-Mex then you will have nothing to complain about. Loaded with plenty of cheese and sour cream, their meals are huge and everything is served with a generous serve of delicious Mexican rice. I'm not usually a fan of the bland rice served up as a plate filler but this stuff is just as good as everything else on the plate. Good Mexican beer and tequila cocktails are a must for any Mexican restaurant worth their salt and Pepe's has a great selection of both.

But enough of the places where you can find me stuffing my face at least once a week; where's your favourite Mexican restaurant?
