So we thought we would help parents of young children out by offering a selection of Melbourne's best kid friendly cafes and restaurants. I'm sure you will also have some recommendations to share as well, so feel free to leave a comment.

For an upmarket dining experience, that will be as equally joyous for the kids, try the pricey Donovans in St Kilda. The family restaurant serves kid friendly meals like spaghetti carbonara, fish and chips and veal schnitzel. It is a limited menu, but that is a good thing as kids can be indecisive. The lone dessert is an ice cream sundae, and there is nothing wrong with that. The kids will love making a mess with the chocolate sauce and strawberries. As mentioned, this place is pricey; the kids meals are priced around $12, while the regular main menu dishes are priced around $30.

For something less formal, but equally great, try Los Amates in Fitzroy. The kids menu here is particularity exciting as children can dine on ham and cheese quesadillas, nachos with salsa, chicken taquitos (tortillas), chicken enchiladas and enfrijoladas. Most of the dishes on the kids menu do not have chilli, unless requested. The kids menu is priced from $6.50 up to $15. There is a great family atmosphere at this Mexican establishment.

For Pizza Lovers, a great family establishment is Pizza Religion in Hawthorn. The kids pizza, priced at $8 comes in two options - ham and pineapple and margherita, but the kids can help mum and dad with the potato pizza or mushroom pizza. You can finish your family meal here with ice cream or chocolate pudding, or both; the kids are sure to love that.

There are of course, many more great kid friendly cafes and restaurants in Melbourne, so if you know of a great place, please let us know about it by leaving a comment.

As always, we look forward to your feedback.
