To begin this listing, I will start with a very popular Eastern European restaurant and wine bar located in Prahran -
Borsch, Vodka & Tears. WeekendNotes already has a number of reviews on this Melbourne hotspot; Michaelie Clark described it as '
gypsy magic', Alison Drew-Forster proclaimed it has "
an awe inspiring drinks menu" and Matylda suggested the establishment "
captured the Polish spirit perfectly". So yes,
Borsch, Vodka & Tears comes highly recommended.
Menu highlights include, the restaurant namesake
borscht, as well as chicken stroganoff, lamb stew, goulash and
blinchiki.

The second recommendation is
The Hungarian in Richmond. Here you can enjoy 'The Drunken Pig', '19th Century Lamb Goulash', 'Hungarian Beef Goulash' and the mysterious 'The Secret of Buda'. Crepes are a house speciality here; there are many savoury and sweet options to choose from.
Our final recommendation is
Budapest Restaurant and Palinka Bar in Elsternwick. Menu highlights here include smoked pork shank, roast duck, various schnitzel dishes, including stuffed schnitzel options with your choice of sauce and for dessert, try the cherry blintz.

There are of course, many more great Eastern European establishments in Melbourne, so if you know of a great cafe or restaurant which serves authentic Eastern European cuisine, please let us know about it by leaving a comment.
As always, we look forward to your feedback.
