There are great places to enjoy some quality breakfasts in Sydney, although gluten free is winning the race in Melbourne. However I have enjoyed some great organic and gluten free breakfasts in Sydney. I have enjoyed great breakfasts in Rozelle, Annandale, Surry Hills, Darlinghurst and at Moore Park, where I had a yummy eggs benedict with my mum one Sunday morning, and for the life of me I cannot remember the establishment (it was definitely in the Entertainment Quarter area).

The following are the best breakfast establishments in Sydney. Enjoy, and I trust that you will be just as satisfied with these establishments down the track.

1. Rosebud

My favourite for a simple and fairly reasonably priced breakfast. The organic eggs with sourdough bread (best to get the eggs poached) is simple and tasty with a great coffee, smoothie or juice with some water on the side. It is smallish (not like a big breakfast) yet this breakfast definitely hits the spot. Busy on weekends, yet still just as good during the week. However the service can be a little slower on weekday mornings, so don't stop by if you have to go to work that day - otherwise the breakfast world is your Rosebud oyster with more of the place to yourself.

2. Single Origin Roasters

Great poached eggs, and head down for the best coffee in Surry Hills, let alone now in Sydney. It is that great, especially their lattes. A serving of poached eggs and a latte. I have a massive smile on my face for the entire day. It is that easy.

3. Cafe XXII

Bircher muesli, awesome. Eggs, cooked to perfection, awesome. Pancakes, generous serving sizes, light and fluffy. If you live in Pyrmont and you eat out for breakfast, and you have never been to this establishment for breakfast before - where have you been? The breakfasts are so good and reasonably priced. Why bother cooking. Cooking your own breakfast is like an extra hassle and one less problem you really need.

4. Le Monde Cafe

Great breakfast degustation. Another strong coffee contender for Surry Hills and Sydney for the best coffee. Worth it for the coffee and the great service. Before I even got a chance to glue my butt to the seat, water was arranged. Great mind reading from the wait staff. Shame this establishment is not open on a Sunday.

5. Yuga Cafe

You must be in the mood for pancakes. The best pancake breakfast in Sydney. Expect caramelised pears, walnuts, ricotta and organic maple syrup. Worth $16 once in a while, and especially if you are fed up of the traditional bacon and eggs. One of the best coffees in Glebe too.

Wowee! Rozelle, Annandale, Surry Hills, Darlinghurst and at Moore Park! Do I suspect a cyclist in our midst? C'mon Justine, there are parts of Sydney that are more than 2kms from the GPO. Try H2O Cafe on the tranqil waters of Narrabeen Lagoon. Echos on the Marina, hidden away under the Roseville Bridge, or for a really peaceful morning, take the ferry from Brooklyn over to Dangar Island and have brekky at this car-free delights's one and only cafe set in the middle of the Hawkesbury River.

Varga Bar, Newtown - you can't beat Dan, Russ & the team who greet you each morning with a great smile, hand you FANTASTIC 'Morgans' coffee & then patiently wait while you peruse the menu which is filled with the most sustainable & organic choices available in town. It's a winner everyday of the week!

Oh dear. We made our way to Single Origin Roasters on Surry Hills on a bright but cold Sunday only to find the place closed, even at 10 am. Tried the place cross the road, Toast; it was ok but not worth a return trip.

Vespa cafe in Gladesville does a wonderful breakfast. The Italian Frittata is scrumptious and the Italian breakfast is delicious and they also do a wonderful Big breakfast as well. Fresh fruit salad and fresh juices are also on the menu and to top it off they serve wonderful coffee. Great staff and reasonable prices right in the heart of Gladesville.
