Love them or loathe them, birthdays are something none of us can avoid. For kids, it's a no-brainer: piles of brightly wrapped pressies, copious quantities of sugar and a bunch of friends to play games with equals serious fun.
For adults however, it seems the b-word becomes less popular each year. Well, even the most hardened anti-birthday folk will find it hard to resist the following tasty birthday freebies. All provide you with free food, are available in Melbourne and require no purchase, however some may require you to register online beforehand.
Planet Chocolate: Just like Jerry McGuire, I had you at hello, didn't I? Planet Chocolate is offering everyone who 'Likes' their Facebook page a free plate of birthday Chocolate Poffertjes (mini dutch pancakes), served warm with chocolate sauce. Yum!
Baskin Robbins: Another no-brainer. Visit the website, join their birthday club and get a free scoop of delectable Australian ice cream. The only challenge is choosing from the lip-smacking selection of over 30 flavours, including Cherries Jubilee, Chocolate Trilogy and Caramel Praline Cheesecake. Cool, hey?
Boost Juice: When Janine Ellis first launched Boost in Australia, it took the market by storm, and a string of competitors followed. Eleven years later, other juice bars have fallen by the wayside, but Boost is still going strong. Join their Vibe club by picking up a membership card in-store, activate it on the website and you'll score a free birthday Boost juice or smoothie. Tasty and healthy!
Subway: If you're looking for something healthy or more substantial in the way of free birthday fare, join the Subway Eat Fresh Club. Simply visit the club page on their website and they'll email or SMS you a birthday meal voucher for a tasty 6-Inch and drink. B.L.T. anyone?
Muffin Break: Not so long ago, most Australians thought muffins were the type of thing you split in half and toasted. Enter Muffin Break, a Canadian franchise which introduced us to a whole new world of sweet and savoury delights, like Strawberry Macadamia, Butterscotch Pecan and Sweet Chilli Corn. Join the Muffin Break Club via their website and they'll give you a free muffin of your choice on your birthday. Sweet!

mcdonalds also has a birthday club, need to fill out a form instore & on your b'day they will send u a card with a freebie each month,eraser & a sml pkt of 4 coloured pencils. Its good if your birthday is at the start of the year, then u will get more benefits. As my son just got his & we r in July already so has missed out on the months previous. But still a freebie nevertheless....
