Have some spare time during summer? Then organise in your diary a day trip down to Berry. Pack some drinks, snacks, camera, fill up your car with fuel and hit the open road.
Take the Princes Highway south and head down either, Stanwell Tops, Bulli Pass or Mount Ousley, travel through the town of Kiama and onwards to Berry. Personally, while it might take a little longer, I prefer the Stanwell Tops route along the Grand Pacific Drive and over the Sea View Bridge, as it has the most scenic views along the northern Wollongong coastline.
If you have some time to spare while heading to Berry, stop off at Kiama and check out the blowhole; if it is windy enough, you might get a chance to see it blow pretty high.

Berry is approximately 150 km and 2 hours drive away from Sydney. The town is well know for its scenic countryside, cafés, antiques and boutique stores.
While the town has a population of less then 2000 people, during the weekends Sydneysiders take the journey down south to break away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Depending on what your interests are, there is always sometime to look at.
In the antique shops there many historic wonders to sort through that bring back memories of the past. If you are not into antiques, try one of the many boutique stores, the clock shop, or maybe the sweet shop, which has many unique and international sweets that are often hard to find.
Berry
There is also the Berry Museum in the old town bank which has a vast collection of photographs, memorabilia, and newspaper clippings from the local community. Seeing all these items really does provide an insight into the history of the area. Worth the visit for 30 minutes to an 1 hour, if you have the time.
Feeling hungry for lunch or an afternoon bite to eat? There are plenty of cafés and eateries on Queen street, the main street of Berry. The local hotel is one of the favourite places to eat, but the home-made nachos at the Hedgehog Café are certainly a highlight. There have been a few occasions where my partner and I have taken the 2 hour drive just to enjoy our favourite dish. It might not be for everyone but we like it.

When its time to make the home bound journey, if you have some time to spare, pop into some of the local community towns link Gerringong/Gerroa or take a walk along the famous seven mile beach. I wouldn't try walking it though, as it may take a some time and you are likely to have to walk back as well.

The trip to Berry is one of the more picturesque drives that you will find on the South coast, mixed with the relaxing atmosphere of the town. It is one of my favourite places to visit if I ever need to a break away from Sydney on the weekend.
