If you're one of the many people that have put aside your love of reading to focus on all the other demands of busy, modern-day life, maybe it's time to reignite your literary passion.
There's a way you can combine your reading list with your hectic lifestyle and get through all the latest novels while doing your daily chores, driving or exercising. It's by listening to audiobooks, and with the rise of mp3 players, computers and even mobile phones on which you can store the recording, it's never been easier.
Some may baulk at the suggestion of listening to a book rather than sitting down to read through each of the chapters. There's a certain nostalgia about turning pages and certainly something in the achievement of reading through a thick volume yourself but if you've simply run out of time or can't seem to allow yourself the luxury of sitting down with a good book, don't dismiss audiobooks until you've tried.
The Bendigo Library has a great range available. Recorded by professional voice artists or sometimes even the author themselves, they can be borrowed in different formats. There's CD versions on the shelves, Plug 'n Play editions where you insert a set of headphones into the book and even more exciting still, are the highly accessible E-Audio books that are available for download from the Bendigo Library website, for free.
Simply log on to the Bendigo Library website using your borrower ID. (If you don't have one, you can join online), continue to the Bolinda Audio section of the page and browse through titles from authors such as; Peter Fitzsimons, Geraldine Brooks, Matthew Reilly, Jodi Picoult, Stephanie Meyer and more. The Bendigo Library regularly updates the titles, so you'll never run out of stories to listen to.
The Bendigo Library is open: Monday - Friday, 10:00am - 7:00pm and Saturdays 10.00am - 1.00pm. The E-Audio books however, are conveniently available anytime you like.
