At the foot of the Dandenong Ranges lies the thriving, funky town of Belgrave and in it, the Cameo Cinemas which boasts the
only outdoor cinema to show the latest movie releases. A 50 minute
train trip from the city or half an hour drive via
Eastlink will find you in Belgrave with plenty of places to eat and of course the opportunity to catch a flick outside.
Although going to the movies is a perfect way to escape the scorching heat of summer, Cameo Cinemas outdoor films only start once the sun goes down and you are surrounded by a canopy of trees - keep an eye out for neighbouring possums out for a free feed! As you're relaxing, you will receive perfect cinematic sounds with your individual Dolby digital headset.
Recline in deck chairs as you watch the latest films on the 14 metre screen and munch on your own food or drink or pick up a hamper from the Reel Cafe next door. If you've already eaten, there are shops across the road to fend off those sugar cravings or you can purchase drinks and food from the cinema's candy bar.
There is plenty of parking around the cinema, with car parks on either side and there is further parking on the street or behind Safeway on the high side of Burwood Highway.
