Welcome to Bendigo's Beechworth Bakery

Forget your quiet, cottage-style bakery where you take your time with tea and scones. Bendigo's Beechworth Bakery is fast and happening.

From the minute you walk in, you'll be surrounded by a legion of Beechworth's loyal customers. Some find their places at the large tables or booths in the 150 seat dining area. Others line up at the counter, busy with a type of speed-service ordering.

You'll need to decide whether you're having a hot food meal, like a 'Steak, Cheese and Bacon Pie' ($3.80), 'Steak and Mushroom Pie' ($3.80), 'Potato Pie' ($4.00) or vegetarian 'Bushman's Pastie' ($3.40). Or, whether you're going to treat yourself from the selection of classic sweets such as lemon tarts, apple cakes, lamingtons, eclairs and vanilla slice.

Children won't have any difficulty finding something they like among the decorated cup cakes and happy face biscuits. For drinks, it's a cold one from the fridge or try Beechworth's Bottomless Cup, which for $3.00 allows you to refill tea or a percolated coffee, as often as you like.

8232;'Boomerang' coasters, are given out with any other type of coffee order and they flash and beep wildly when your drinks are ready for collection. The coasters add to the frantic appeal of the place as does the wall of buzzing, kitchen timers that make sure no-one's toasted sandwich ever burns

You might think that with all the rush, it's likely that at Beechworth Bakery they'll mess up, spill or overcook your food but bakery founder Tom O'Toole, who now works as motivational speaker and has produced a blog, books and dvd, is so confident of his product, that he offers a 200% unconditional guarantee on quality and service in his stores.

8232;He says 'worth the drive, just for the taste'. I say, really hectic, yummy, fun.
