is a cosy little place in a very convenient location, close to bus stops, the Ipswich Hospital and Ipswich Library and just across the road from the Ipswich Civic Centre. On a cold drizzly day we were lured in by the promise of hot drinks and the comfy looking interior.

In addition to the seating, funky lamps and counter full of delicious looking cakes and other treats there is a section with fresh fruit and vegetables you can select yourself and bring to the counter to have made into juice, which is nifty.

I had a soy chai latte, which was absolutely perfect. My husband had a smoothie which came in a jar. I'm a little puzzled by this trend in cafes lately for putting drinks in jars (apparently it's a hipster thing?) but he said it didn't take away from the taste.

I also tried the passionfruit chia cheesecake. The chia must have been in the base, which had a nutty taste and a slightly dry, gritty texture, which might have to do with it being gluten free. The cheese and passionfruit part was lovely, just the right blend of sweet and tart. It was served on a cheese board because once you're drinking out of jam jars why not eat off pieces of wood?

Beans & Greens is child friendly, with a basket of toys in one corner to help keep little ones occupied and low chairs and tables that toddlers can sit at with ease. The staff were friendly and efficient and the range of food and drink was impressive. I think I will have to go back sometime to try their purple carrot juice and vegan chocolate mousse.
