Affordable Family Accommodation
It was Friday 7am and the last weekend of summer school holidays. We had no plans for the next 3 days, so I decided to pack my 11 year old son and getaway for some fun in the sun. My budget was limited since we had enjoyed a few adventures during the holidays, so I quickly jumped online and found a great hotel in Toukley on NSW Central Coast.

We packed our bags and were on the road by 8am. Not a bad effort I thought, secretly hoping I hadn't forgotten anything important.

We arrived at the Beachcomber Toukley an hour and a half later and were pleasantly surprised to see it was more than a hotel. It was more like a resort. Admittedly it was rated as 3.5 star, so not pure luxury, but it was comfortable and clean.

Knowing that we had arrived before the check in time of 2pm, I was expecting to be turned away, but the lady at the reception was very welcoming and found us a room which was vacant.

So our adventure began. We explored the many beautiful beaches , nature reserves and parks Central Coast has to offer including:

Avoca Beach
Toowoon Bay Beach
Canton Beach
Picnic Point Reserve
Copacabana Beach
Umina Beach
Memorial Park

At the end of each day we returned to our room exhausted but happy.

Beachcomber Toukley offers several styles of accommodation including:

Beachcomber Suite, which includes queen size bed, double sofa bed, two-person corner spa, internet access, direct dial phone, air-conditioning, television, tea/coffee making facilities, ensuite, in house movies.

Standard Spa Room with queen size bed, double sofa bed, single spa bath, internet access, direct dial phone, air-conditioning, television, tea/coffee making facilities, ensuite, in house movies.

Standard Waterfront Room has either king size bed or two singles, television, internet access, air-conditioning, in house movies, tea/coffee making facilities, ensuite, direct dial phone.

Standard Roadside Room includes queen size bed, internet access, direct dial phone, air-conditioning, television, tea/coffee making facilities, ensuite, in house movies.

For dinner head over to Beachie Café, which serves pizzas, pasta, salads, bar bites such as chips and gravy and calamari, kids meals and other favourites like girlled fish, chicken parmiagana and BBQ pork ribs. The menu is extensive and meals are inexpensive. Adjacent to the café is a kids playground, so you can enjoy a drink before your meal while the kids play. There is also a 20 metre swimming pool, where you can enjoy a dip before or after your meal.

The Beachcomber Hotel has 3 bars – Main Bar, which is a traditional Australian pub, Lounge Bar is located on the lake side and suitable for relaxed get-togethers with friends and Boatshed & Beer Garden, great for a relaxed family outing.

On Friday nights, the hotel runs "The Underground", a nightclub with a large dance floor, huge bar and overlooking Budgewoi Lake.

The Central Coast area is ideal for a weekend escape. You can relax on the beach with a good book or enjoy water sports such as snorkeling, kayaking, swimming, boating and windsurfing. The girls will find plenty of shops and markets to explore, while boys can have a game of golf or do some fishing.

So if you decide to get away for the weekend and are looking for affordable accommodation, then check out the Beachcomber Hotel.
