It is good ya? The German's know their bier. They also know their food. For a beautiful drink and a fantastic feed, head down to Bondi Beach to the Bavarian Bier Cafe. If the beach is a little far, there is a few other stores around Sydney. With over twenty biers to choose from, you're never lacking in choice. My personal favourite is the Hofbrau Dunkel. It's a dark bier. I'm usually not a fan, but it has an amazing char-grill after-taste that goes perfectly with their food.
The menu hosts an array of traditional German meals. For those of you who aren't familiar with the cuisine, there is your sauerkraut, your sausages and your schnitzel. It's some of the best German food I've had in Sydney. Crispy light Schnitzel, small flavoursome sausages and some of the best sauerkraut in the Southern Hemisphere. But let's face it, we didn't come for the food did we? The biers borderline on the pricey side but hey, you're not paying for VB. This is European brewing at its best.
If the food isn't what you're looking for and the biers are a little to strong for your Australian taste-buds, then simply, go for the girls. I haven't been told, but I'm pretty sure there is an unspoken rule for all waitresses employed at the Bier Cafe. It's commonplace to have your top button undone and you can get away with the top two buttons undone. But when you hit up that third, let's face it, the shirt is useless. Not that I'm complaining. If you manage to score a table outside, it's a picturesque place to enjoy a summer afternoon.
By the way, they also have a complimentary non-alcoholic bier for the designated driver. Be sure to ask for it.
