The Barossa Valley, about an hours drive north of Adelaide, is a wine lovers Mecca.
The valley is formed by the North Para River and is approximately 900square kilometres.
The Barossa Ranges (named by Colonel Light) flank the valley. Driving through the Barossa is a great way to experience the area; a town, a road or a winery at a time.
But, seeing the Barossa Valley from a helicopter is an entirely different and exciting Barossa experience.
are a family business and operate from their home base 'Hoffnungsthal' (meaning Valley of Hope) in Lyndoch. Vineyard owners since the late 1800's, they started their helicopter business 25 years ago. They now have 3 helicopters that fly every day.
A flight with doesn't cost a fortune either. Their joy flight packages have something to suit everyone. A quick flight around the Lyndoch area costs just $35.
The Deluxe 30 minute flight covers a huge area of the Barossa - going over the ranges to Nuriootpa and Angaston, then back through Tanunda and Lyndoch. You'll see Maggie Beer's Farm, Lindsay Park Stud, Yalumba Winery, Wolf Blass Wines, Jacobs Creek and the
Whispering Wall , to name just a few of the major sights.
The flights are suitable for all ages and can be tailored to your particular needs. One of their specialties is to fly you to lunch at a winery! Now, that sounds like something truly memorable and would make a terrific present for that someone special. Give them a call for
more information and prices.
I had a fantastic time in the helicopter. There's nothing quite like it - it's comfortable and safe and the views are simply spectacular!
