A special treat for you now - I'm going to tell you about somewhere really cool. Actually it's so cool it's positively freezing!
The
Ice Bar in London is a venue that you will want to go to, and tell your friends all about it once you have, I have no doubt about it. Located just off Regent Street, and housed in former Royal wine vaults, the Ice Bar will take your breath away (as much to do with the cold temperatures as the incredible interiors!)
The bar operates on 40 minute time slots, and tickets can be booked in advance for this, the price including a pair of gloves and a designer cape with hood to wear while inside, a personal glass made from ice plus a choice of drink to put inside it. Refills are available at a price, but you may be too busy looking at the stunningly carved interior, all made from ice (Ice Bar - get it!), and kept at a pretty chilly -5 degrees all year round. (hence the cape and gloves - all making sense now!)
The Ice Bar is updated in terms of design every year, with the ice shipped in especially from the Torne River in Sweden, believed to be the cleanest ice around. There is a strong design theme running through the bar concept, as you might expect from the Swedish, evident not only in the
latest designs in the bar, but in its
merchandise, especially
t-shirt range. Incidentally, the ice that furnishes the Ice Bar is from the same ice source used to make the sister project, the famous and ingenious
Ice Hotel in Sweden.
So, what can I say? Want to impress somebody, they'll be impressed, and if not - they must be as cold as the ice that surrounds you.
