Rightly or wrongly, the Sydney CBD has stubbornly reserved itself for people who wear suits and daytime activities, with the nightlife anchored further afield. So when a group of friends and myself had some time to kill in the CBD one night before a concert, we were at a bit of a loss as to where to go. Until we stumbled across .

If it wasn't for the warm glow enticing us through the front door we easily could have missed the place – it's located underground, with no garish signage out the front. Inside it's a cosy little joint: charismatic without being forcefully cool, and the staff were very friendly. But the best surprise was the prices!

We took a gamble and opted for the house wine (McWilliams, S/S/B or a cab/shiraz, both $5/glass or $25/bottle) - now I'm no Master of Wine, but I found them both quite quaffable. The pizzas were also great value for money, ranging from $5 - $14. We tried the double smoked leg ham with Spanish onion, mushroom and fresh rocket, which went down a treat.

We actually enjoyed ourselves so much that we lost track of time and were late to our concert! Be sure to add to your mental rolodex for the next time you're in need of a laid back bar in the CBD.
