Balmoral Beach is located on the northern beaches of Sydney in the suburb of Mosman and is an ideal family beach.
Young children can play at the playground and older children can ride their bikes, scooters and skateboards along the promenade. If you have roller skates, bring them along and try to keep up with the kids.
The beach has no waves and so is suitable even for young kids. Build a sandcastle or dig a giant hole ... the kids are guaranteed to keep occupied for hours.
The beach is divided into two main beach areas by Rocky Point. Edwards Beach is enclosed by a shark net which stretches from Rocky Point to the beach.
Balmoral Beach is a popular location for windsurfing due to good wind conditions and there is also a sailing centre at the southern end of Balmoral.
There are plenty of takeaway shops, cafes and restaurants, so you can enjoy a casual breakfast, brunch or lunch before going for a swim or in the evening a more formal meal in one of the many award winning restaurants, whilst taking in the breathtaking views of Middle Harbour.
If you are coming in for the day, it is a good idea to get to the beach early, as parking can be difficult. Although there is a carpark at the southern end of the beach, there is also paid street parking available nearby.
