isn't the prettiest of picnic spots. In fact it looks just the same as any old school oval, but don't let this put you off because it is a good spot that has more than meets the eye.
The grassy field is great for any sort of ball games, or activities that involve running around. It is open, so parents can have a good line of sight to their children at all times. Practice your soccer or football skills, or use the space to fly a kite, throw a frisbee or play with your dog.
The playground is compact, but features two slides, a climbing frame and other activities. While it would be fun for children of all ages, it would probably be best for younger children, as there isn't much space for running or other games on the playground. There are plenty of benches in the reserve for parents watching children play.
also has a small skate park that is perfect for beginner and intermediate skaters. With quaterpipes, handrails, and plenty of space for skating, this is a great spot for someone wanting to improve their skating skills. Protective clothing must be worn, as well as appropriate footwear. Children under eight using the skating facilities must be supervised by an adult.
The hours for the skate park are:
8am till 6pm 1 April to 30 Septmeber
8am till 9pm 1 October till 31 March
So what first appears to be a plain school oval also offers a fun playground and great skating spot. Tucked down the suburban Avenue Road in
Cumberland Park this can be a good place to sneak off to.
