Australian Heritage Festival at La Trobe’s Cottage
Visitors will be able to learn all about Charles Joseph La Trobe, Victoria's first Governor and hear some fascinating stories from the family's letters about their life in early Melbourne in this tour of La Trobe's Cottage. The family lived in this elegantly furnished cottage surrounded by a beautiful garden for nearly 15 years. During this time, Melbourne grew from a settlement of fewer than 3,000 people to the centre of a thriving Colony of 237,000 people.
From the city: take Tram No. 8 to Stop 22 on Domain Road, just after Dallas Brooks Drive.
Alternatively, take any other tram along St Kilda Road (except Route 1) to Stop 20 and walk across the park.
The Melbourne City Tourist Shuttle bus Stop 13 on Birdwood Avenue is close to La Trobe's Cottage.
Parking in neighbouring streets is free on Sunday
