A friend introduced me to Aum Shanti Vegetarian Cafe in Frankston some time ago, which has since become a favourite when venturing out to the beachfront suburb in Melbourne's South East.

Aum Shanti, situated on the Nepean Highway, offers vegetarian and vegan delights to healthy food fans.

As the name suggests, Aum Shanti focuses on vegetarian friendly food including wraps, sandwiches, salads and soups displayed behind a glass cabinet. Their lentil pies are much sought after, and sweet indulgences are a must. Those with gluten free requests are most certainly catered for, and vegans are spoilt for choice.

In addition to wholesome nutritious food available to enjoy for a brunch or lunch time treat, Aum Shanti sells an assortment of health food items to take home, as well as a selection of beautiful artwork, fair trade products, handmade crafts and more, leaving much to feast the eyes over as well as feeding a hungry belly.

Aum Shanti welcomes regulars into its popular cafe to enjoy its earthy ambiance and warm, friendly service. Children are very much welcomed.

As well as being a cafe which attracts healthy folk with a love of nourishing food, there are often promotions which have transformed this eatery into so much more than just a local cafe.

Aum Shanti's activities and support for local charities are a credit to the business. Their involvement with the worldwide Suspended Coffee initiative has enabled the cafe to expand their assistance to disadvantaged young people in the community by providing soup and muffins to Frankston Homeless Support, in conjunction with City Life.
