For locals and foreigners alike, Perth has many attractions. Living in a place, it's easy to forget these well-worn routes, but every once in a while, whether you're a visitor, a newcomer, or just need a refresher, here are some of Perth's most iconic attractions.

The Belltower
Something so visible, and yet how many of us have gone inside? With the advent of Elizabeth Quay, Perth on the river is now a bustling hub. The Belltower is situated on the Barrack Street Jetty centre close to restaurants, other attractions, and the city itself. The base of the Bell Tower is surrounded by fountains, and inside, a gift shop. For a small fee, you can climb to the top of the tower and see how the bells work, as well as magnificent views across Perth.

Elizabeth Quay
The much anticipated Elizabeth Quay is growing in popularity, as the last pieces of the construction are finalised. A moored sailboat for touring, Venice-style gondolas and plenty of restaurants provide entertainment. The space is very family friendly, with fantastic playgrounds and the Rio Tinto water park. Check out their website for more info on markets and pop up events.

Kings Park
The park is situated on an escarpment above Perth Cty, with stunning views of the city and the Swan River. It's the perfect place for a relaxed evening and couldn't be more conveniently situated. The lawns and facilities are exceptional and it is undoubtedly one of Perth's gems.

Fremantle
While a town in itself, Fremantle can't escape this list. It has been rated is one of the ten best cities to visit and has a rich culture of its own. Walking the sights of the harbour is a perfect Saturday stroll, and the many cafes and restaurants are perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The Markets, gift shops, street sellers, and abundance of locally made wares make it a perfect shopping spot. Some of my favourite haunts include Many 2.0, the Artisan Store, and Bread in common. Need more inspiration? Check out more of Freo's attractions.

The Beaches
Perth has arguably some of the best coastline in Australia. From Scarborough to South Beach, there aren't many that you could turn your nose down. City Beach is a popular one. For something smaller checkout South Beach, just South of Fremantle.

Scarborough is close to shops, and has fantastic lawns and barbecue facilities. If you're feeling like something a little different, try Mettams pool, kid-friendly snorkelling, or go for a drive along the old coast highway. This highway takes you North to South, with beautiful oceans views in parts, and smaller roads shooting off to many beautiful spots.
Adventure World
A hit with the young and active, adventure world is certainly a classic, but with recent upgrades, things might have changed. Snag a coupon for a great price, or if you're really keen, a season pass can be a good option, great for gifts and school holidays.

The City
Cities have many attractions within them, but the buzz of the CBD is noteworthy in and of itself. Hay Street, St George's Terrace, and Forrest Place often have markets, events, street performers and the shopping that bring life to the city. Stand out places in Perth include London (or diagon, as sometimes referred to ) Alley, and the revolving C restaurant.

Northbridge
By night Northbridge is known as the clubbing centre of Perth, so if that's your scene, that's the place to be. However, by day Northbridge has plenty of fun cafes and also boasts the State Library, Museum of WA, and WA Art Gallery. The outdoor spaces and 'artsy' feel make Northbridge a great place for a wander and with its proximity to the CBD, it will be easy to fit into the itinerary.

AQWA
You might remember it as 'underwater world' from your childhood. AQWA is as great as ever, with the popular tour through the reef tank and the touch pool that lets kids interact with real reef animals. What you might not know already, is the activities that AQWA has on - from diving with sharks, to seeing 'real' mermaids, there are activities that will suit different people and a range of budgets. See surrounding Hillarys for more fun.

Perth Zoo
The zoo is an obvious one in any city, and it has to go on this list. Kids will always love the zoo and even a group of adults can have plenty of fun. Make the most of it by checking the feeding schedule ahead of time and whether they have any events on. Many of these well-known places have some great events throughout the year to mix things up a bit.

There are so many other things that could have been included, but these offer a great start. Always remember that these places often have events and special occasions, so go on to their website (all linked in the headings) and see what suits you. Comment below with your recommendations!
