Adding to the influx of new small Sydney bars is - the latest watering hole from the guys responsible for Pocket Bar.
is tucked and hidden away in a rather unusual spot known as Regent Place, which is located at 501 George Street Sydney, and is a new shopping and dining precinct in the city.

Admittedly, the place wasn't as bustling as I hoped, but it was in an unsuspecting area, so we gave it a chance because it looked quirky and cool. The bar appeared to utilise lots of recycled items, including milk crates and room dividers made from forklift panels.

We walked in through the Kent Street door, next to the Fraser Suites, and was located left of and behind the escalators, opposite the quirky picket fenced, astro-turf beer garden area with outdoor umbrellas, which is part of the bar and made for an interesting spot for food or drinks.

The garden area (which is outside but still indoors) was full, so we headed inside to the bar, which had a slight industrial feel to it. There was a mix of seating and dining options, including a bar table with stool, as well as various table and chair settings with plush sofa lounges, with dividers built from wood.

The food menu is simple and hit the spot with plenty of delicious and well priced soul food options which are designed to share.

We choose the provolone and piquillo pepper croquettes, the fries with cheese and truffle sauce, the pork belly sliced sofrito and pickled red cabbage sliders and the pork truffle and cheese sauce hot dog with fries.

The croquettes are tasty cheese balls which a slight smoky flavour and the piqullo pepper sauce went very well with the taste. The pork hot dog was also delicious, but the real winner was the pork belly sliders. The sliders were served on little brioche breads and the pork belly was flavoursome with the pickled cabbage and was a real treat for the tastebuds.

The fries were so tasty and only a little of the melted cheese and truffle sauce was needed. We opted for a bottle of Pinot Grigio to wash down all the yummy carbs, but glanced over the long cocktail list which looked impressive.

For lunch, the place isn't buzzing with people but it definitely picks up in the evening on Thursday and Friday nights.

Regent Place is becoming an interesting place with plenty of great food and drink options, including Assembly Bar, MissChu and Azuma Patisserie.

With its simplistic but tasty food, good drinks menu and cool vibe, is the perfect place to assemble yourself for a cheeky drink or a bite at lunch time or after work.
