Going out for breakfast is my favourite meal to enjoy with friends and family. I haven't had the opportunity to go out for a while but jumped at the chance last weekend with my wonderful husband. We were heading into the city but stopped along the way at Albion to check out Artie and Mai cafe as we had been told it served good breakfast.

Artie and Mai is located on Sandgate Road and when we arrive it was already buzzing with lots of customers all enjoying the warmth of day, coffee and food. Even though busy, they found us a table indoors as the outdoors tables along the footpath were full. Seating consists of long and short tables and big and low benches.

We ordered coffee and breakfast and didn't have to wait long for our coffee or our food. I ordered the special which was avocado on sourdough with poached eggs, smoked corn purée with tomato relish ($17)

My husband went for the big brekky (eggs, bacon, hash cakes, mushrooms, roast tomatoes with homemade baked beans and sourdough for $22)

Coffee was served hot to my husband's liking and the meals were very generous and extremely tasty. So glad we were hungry as we were able to polish of the dishes. It was a great brunch and we didn't have to eat again until late afternoon. Lots of energy for city shopping!

We enjoyed the food as it was fast but tasty. The atmosphere was alive, noisy and buzzing.
