Mazunte and the Oaxacan coast in general is hot. Really hot. I mean it's humid, sweaty and steamy here and there are hills to walk up and down so you usually end up working up a fair heat.

There is the sea of course to cool down, and if you're lucky a nice breeze blowing across the bay but sometimes you just need to eat something that will take the edge off.

I'm talking of course about ice cream.

You can get ice cream in various places around town - some home made and some of the "Magnum" variety from the tiendas that stock the usual type you can get anywhere.

This place offers, in my opinion, the best available home made gelato anywhere around town.

My favourite is the Limon flavour, refreshing and fruity!

It's also a cool little cafe to hang out in, they have decorated the walls and tables with funky objects and artworks and you can enjoy a cone here and relax

If you want ice cream on the road though there is also a good option. They have a tuk-tuk that drives around town - usually with a couple of flavours on board. You can "stop him and buy one" any time you spot him!
