2. National Portrait Gallery
When: All year round: 10am-5pm (Closed Christmas Day)
Where: King Edward Terrace, Parkes

3. Beaver Galleries
When: Tuesday- Friday: 10am-5pm
Where: 81 Denison St, Deakin
Cost: Free entry
Details: This privately owned gallery is home to art from some of Australia's most highly regarded contemporary artists. You can buy pieces on display from sculptures, paintings to ceramics and jewellery. The sculpture garden is a beautiful place where you can explore. Click here for website.

4. Canberra Glassworks
When: Wednesday- Sunday: 10am-4pm
Where: 11 Wentworth Ave, Kingston
Cost: Entry is gold coin - prices for workshops, classes etc- see website.
Details: The only professional glass centre in Australia, Canberra Glassworks offers tours, demonstrations, classes and workshops as well as exhibitions. Click here for website.



5. The National Museum of Australia
When: All year round: 10am-5pm (Closed Christmas Day)
Where: Lawson Crescent, Acton
Cost: Free
Details: This museum showcases incredible exhibitions including some of Australia's most prized and precious history. There are permanent and travelling exhibitions as well. Click here for website.

6. Aboriginal Dreamings Gallery
When: Monday- Friday: By Appointment & Weekends: 11am-4pm
Where: 19 O'Hanlon Place, Gold Creek Village, Nicholls
Cost: Free
Details: The Gallery features an extensive collection of Aborginal art from remote Aboriginal art regions including artworks from Central and Western deserts, The Kimberley Region, Tiwi Islands and Arnhem Land. Click here for website.

7.Drill Hall Gallery
When: Wednesday-Sunday: 12pm-5pm (Closed Good Friday, Christmas Day & New Years Day)
Where: The National University, Canberra
Cost: Free

8. Canberra Contemporary Art Space
When: Tuesday-Friday: 11am-5pm & Weekends: 10am-4pm (Closed Public Holidays)
Where: Gorman House Arts Centre, Ainslie Ave, Braddon
