The Australian Red Cross is holding a free community event,
Architects of Social Bridges, at the Fitzroy Town Hall on Thursday, 15 September 2016 from 5:45 pm to 8:00 pm to celebrate Australia's cultural diversity and to inspire new and better ways of understanding and appreciating our nation's multicultural heritage.
The evening will be hosted by author and activist,
Tasneem Chopra , with guest speakers and performers including:
Poet, MC, and author, Abe Nouk
Medical anthropologist, Dr Gregory Phillips, of the Waanyi and Jaru Aboriginal people
Shabnam Safa, co-founder of the Noor Foundation, and
Sherene Hassan, director of the Islamic Museum of Australia.
During the event, be one of the first to see the official launch of a short film resource featuring the stories of people finding safety, refuge and/or asylum in Australia all whilst enjoying the international canapés served by the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.
The evening aims to encourage and create a more supportive and inclusive community for all those seeking a safer existence. So why not learn more about the many different people that have chosen to call Australia home?
Support the Australian Red Cross by attending and be a part of the conversation on building and improving the community we live in.
