Just about everyone has played Cowboys and Indians and greatly enjoyed shooting a toy bow and arrow, but not many people have had a go at the real thing.
Obviously you cannot run around pretending to shoot your sister with a real bow and arrow, however it is every bit as much fun as the childhood version.
By far the best place I know of to have a try at playing Robbin Hood is the
Moorabbin Archery Club. They even have an indoor range just in case it's raining.
The club can be found at
33 Turner Road, Highet, or Melway Ref: 77 J/9.
The club offers various ways for novices to have a go, the best of which is the
Come 'n' Try program on Saturday and Sunday mornings for just $15.
Then if you get serious you can try the 3 week
introductory course.
If you have a large enough group they also offer
group bookings.
Of course the MAC is not the only archery club in town.
Another club with good facilities which is a little further out is the
Diamond Valley Archers.
You could also try the
Southern Vales Archery Club, the
Yarra Bowmen or check out the
Archery Australia website.
The history of archery is also
quite interesting.
Why? At last, a chance to wear those green tights!
