It's also a great time in spring to visit the picturesque City of Maryborough situated in the pastoral and goldmining region of Central Victoria. Apart from great wine and food, there is much to do in the region.

Try your luck at fossicking and see if you can dig out a gold nugget to take home. But keep in mind that prospecting is permitted only in specific areas and you need to obtain a Miners Right first. There are
guided tours available too.
Take a ride aboard the
vintage steam train, or visit the various
galleries and
museums, or explore Frank McCallum's (alias Captain Melville) cave, where he hid when he was a bushranger.
Situated between the Pyrenees and Macedon wine regions, Maryborough is also famous for great wines,
wineries, and scrumptious
food.
