Technically, the term antique refers to anything that is at least 100 years old; however, the term is widely used to describe beautiful pieces from a bygone era. Brisbane is a treasure trove of items from every era you can imagine.

The Woolloongabba Antique Precinct has over a dozen antique stores in one location. The street even has an antique feel, with old fashioned street lights and retro eateries. Woolloongabba Antique Centre (22 Wellington Road) is Brisbane's largest antique store and stocks everything from furniture to fashion to kitsch to art; Twice Upon a Time Antiques (31 Logan Road) offers a range of furniture, crockery and home wares from England and Australia; addVintage (27 Nile Street) presents a quirky collection of modern and Eames-esque furniture and Harrington Antiques (165 Logan Road) specialises in art.

For rare and first edition books, Archives Fine Books (40 Charlotte Street, Brisbane City) is the place to go, with 50 000 volumes spread out over two massive floors. Archives stocks fiction, non-fiction, comics, Bibles, sheet music and any other version of the written word you can imagine.

Lose yourself exploring Brisbane's antique gems.
