Billed as a Fairy Tale parody, I likened Another Ever After to a pantomime, which frankly I don't think we get enough of in Australia.
Another Ever After opens with Princess sisters Melody and Harmony who face the usual Fairy Tale traumas; stolen parents, being left in the woods, and a curse to be turned into a frozen statue unless finding the love of a Prince.
What follows is a Mash up of Disney stories and characters. All your favourite villains make an appearance and Jiminy Cricket narrates throughout, trying to enforce 'good decisions'.
Produced by local theatre company CCTheatreCo, Another Ever After, is written, produced and directed by the impressive Caroline Cook. A fact I forgot halfway through, the script is so well written, tight and funny it could have been a professional piece.
Gillian Biggs is outstanding as Princess Melody and steals the show, Bermata Davis in the ensemble is also a standout. The remaining cast hold their own with brilliant comic timing, dancing and singing.
This show is pure Fringe Fun, and definitely worth a family outing for any Disney fans. The suggested audience is 10 plus due to innuendo and scary characters, however there were some younger audience members on the night I attended who really seemed to enjoy it.
Another Ever After is showing at Star Theatres in Hilton for the Adelaide Fringe until Sunday 19th March. Get along to see it and keep an eye out for future
CCTheatreCo productions.
