Do your children think that eggs and milk come from the supermarket? Show them where their food really comes from and treat them to a real life farming experience.
Animal Land Children's Farm is located at
Diggers Rest, 30 kilometres from Melbourne. The farm has been providing children with the opportunity to learn more about farm life since 1985. Visitors are given a hands on animal experience where they can pet and feed all the regular farm animals and some not-so-regular ones (like alpacas, deer and turkeys) as well.
A day at Animal Land is like any normal day on the farm, with guests tagging along to complete chores and tasks. Some of the experiences include milking the dairy cows, tractor and pony rides, collecting eggs, tree planting and farm sports. The farm also hosts birthday parties and hires out a mobile petting farm and pony rides.
Animal Land Children's Farm is open on the first and third Saturday of the month; doors open at 10.00am, while tours begin at 10.15am. The cost is $8.00 for adults and $16.00 for children. The experience is designed and best suited towards children aged fourteen months and older.
