Enjoy the fun and feed the bear at this open street event
The Perth community shares a mutual love of outdoor street festivals and the annual Angelo Street Marketplace is no different. This much-favourited community celebration returns for its seventh year in 2017, transforming South Perth's Angelo Street into a vibrant and bustling marketplace that comes alive with people and activity on Sunday 26th March from 10am to 4pm.
This free community event will host over 120 stalls that will line the strip between Strickland and Waverley Streets, in addition to the range of restaurants and retail stores that make up this busy South Perth area. Browse through the stalls and come across the many fashion finds, household and craft goods, as well as gourmet food and drinks that will be on offer from shopfronts and food trucks. Pop up bars will also be dotted on the street, in addition to a unique long table dining experience by Liquor Barons.
As always, once quiet laneways will be transformed with exciting activations and artwork, and visitors are invited to follow the Art Walk to view permanent pieces of art and curated arts experiences. This year, a new Pamper Tent will make an appearance, allowing visitors to experience the ultimate pamper session with hair styling, makeup applications, flower crowns and body art.
This is a family-friendly community festival where furry four-legged friends are welcome to come to the event and children have not been forgotten. Giant games, interactive workshops and a full entertainment programme on the Discus Community Stage will provide much to do for families. A second entertainment stage will feature fashion and musical talents while the anticipated and renowned Gopher Muster will find the next senior worthy of taking out the Champion Driver title.
Making a striking appearance will be an interactive 'Feed the Bear' lifesized roaming puppet, where members of the community are able to share their memories and recollections of South Perth by sticking handwritten notes onto the bear. This unique and heartwarming art creation brings smiles as its coat thickens with the addition and collection of more and more memories.
Road closures and parking information Angelo Street between Strickland Street to Waverley Street will be closed to traffic from 6pm on Saturday 25th March until 8pm on the day of the festival. The South Perth Senior Citizens Centre carpark will also be closed to traffic on Sunday.
Parking spaces will be limited on the day. Alternative event parking is available on the Wesley College oval for a gold coin donation and proceeds will go to the Wesley College Parents' & Friends' Association.
With a plethora of things to see, taste, do and discover, this whole family experience is a must do.
