American Idiot - The Musical

Home > Things to do in New York > Musicals
Punk meets Broadway in one of city's biggest new musicals.

"American Idiot" features the music of Green Day's seminal, Grammy Award-winning album of the same name, capturing the frustration of America's youth during the Bush years.

From the very first song - "American Idiot", of course - it's a loud, rocking, explosive show, with inventive staging and edgy choreography.

The music's not bad either. Pulling from the 2004 album in its entirety, from the irresistible " Holiday," to the somber "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", as well as from last year's "21st Century Breakdown," the cast and on-stage band (which, alas, is not Billie Joe Armstrong and Company) solidly deliver the tunes with all its teenage angst.

American Idiot" will have Green Day fans rocking out in their seat, wishing you could trade the armchairs and cushions for a bona fide mosh pit.
