Located in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley, this little slice of paradise is not to be overlooked.

Named for the ancient Alhambra Palace (Red Palace), home to the monarchs of Granada in Southern Spain, emulates the exotic Spanish palace in it's own way.

I was there just last weekend. Upon entry, you walk down a small flight of steps into a basement-like area which was split into two sections:

The first section I walked through was lined with brick walls, intricately carved wooden separators and curtains. The area was furnished with numerous lavish couches covered in cushions, wooden coffee tables and lit by candles and lanterns. In the next section, a DJ was setting up while the bar staff tended to the lounge's thirsty inhabitants (the drink prices weren't anything to complain about either).

As the DJ began to play, the roomy dancefloor between the stage and the bar slowly filled up. Personally, I opted for a gin and tonic (lime) and one of the big comfy couches. But it has to be said that Alhambra really does cater for most people. If you're feeling like dancing the night away, the DJ (or band, depending on the night) will happily comply, or if you feel like a sitting back and relaxing with friends and a not-so-badly priced drink, then there's certainly plenty of couch space to do so.

Overall, I have to say I loved this place. I honestly have nothing bad to say about it, heck, I might even have my birthday there.

It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it sure is fun.
Go check it out for yourselves and let me know what you think!
